Alex McInturff

I am an interdisciplinary scholar, drawing from methods in the social sciences, environmental justice, ecology, and geospatial analysis to answer questions about the relationships between people and wildlife. As a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California at Santa Barbara and with CONVIVA, I am studying the proposed reintroduction of grizzly bears to California with professor Peter Alagona.

My post-doctoral research examines reciprocal links between social tolerance for large carnivores, ecological patterns, and conservation actions. I examine these links at multiple scales, including individual identities, institutional processes, habitat characteristics, and state and national politics. Prior to this research, I completed my Ph.D. at UC Berkeley with professor Justin Brashares.
