Helen Newing

Helen has worked on issues related to local communities and conservation for over twenty-five years, both as an academic and in the NGO sector.

Currently she works as an independent consultant, principally in three areas: conservation and human rights, socially and environmentally responsible commodity standards, and community contributions to conservation.

She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science (ICCS) at Oxford University and is the principal author of Conducting Research in Conservation: A Social Science Perspective (the leading social science methods book for conservationists).
